OIV activities are the essential activities that evrey student on Jesenice Grammar school must complete. They include two parts, first is organised by school and mostly consists of sports days. The second part is chosen by students. There are plenty options such as sports, music, voluntary work, etc. The majority of students dislike the idea behind OIV activities but I think they can be very useful.
In high school students have less freetime than before. Because of that a lot of them quit their hobbys such as sports so they can study more. I think that OIV activities are a great sollution to this problem because it forces students to try out some new activities. Some may even discover their secret talents that would probably never be dicovered without OIV. Then students can work on their newly discovered talents and could even get a career out of it.
Last year I was a member of Žarek Society and helped younger children with studying difficulties. It was a pleasure to see them improve their grades. At the end I realised that teaching was not really my hidden talent. Maybe I will find it next year.
To sum up, I belive that OIV activities are a great way of making new friends, help others and discover something new about yourself. It is a great way for students to become more social and it should not be cancelled.
